Immobility is a sound performance based on enhanced tape cassette decks using various electro-acoustic sound sources. Sound treatment and editing will be operated from a digital audio station, then rerecorded on various cassette tapes. The use of several enhanced cassette players permits a direct action on sound thanks to electronic or mechanical means: changes in pitch and speed as well as volume, filtering…

Such equipment allows for an authentic musical movement, as the buttons added to the recorders make a direct action on magnetic tapes possible, as well as the creation of a visual counterpart to the actions leading to the sound obtained.

Marc Parazon is a composer of electro acoustic music, sound artist and experimental film-maker. He graduated at the National School Louis Lumière in Sound engineering and works as a sound mixer in the cinema industry and for institutions such as the Pompidou Center and Ircam.

He studies electro acoustic music composition at the music academy of Pantin. He realized the original music for the movie Fidelio by Lucie Borleteau (Why Not Production) in 2014, but also for the movie A vif by Guillaume Foresti (Kometa Production) the same year. He also made the sound for the installation Peep by Josephine Wister Faure at the Silencio in Paris. His sound installation, A Tape End) was presented at the Arts school of Braine-L’Alleud in 2014 during the Résonances event after his participation to City Sonic festival in 2013.
