Carré des Arts

4a, Rue des Sœurs Noires Mons

Gratuit

Fermé les lundis

Glas field #2 (première belge)

The installation comprises 14 zithers, cable and a variable number of small dc motors prepared with silicone cords and stones. The strings of the instruments are excited when the material attached to the motors strikes the strings as the motors
spin.

The way in which this mechanism activates the instruments is partly determined by speed changes in the motors from the computer but especially by the weight and oscillation of the materials attached to the motors. The chords which are carefully composed for each instrument, overlap evolving an interlacing of tones and nuances in which the visitor is immersed.
