Transe-Formations

Isa*Belle ; Stéphane Kozik ; Natalia de Mello

The performance emerges from the voice of Philippe Franck, founder of Transcultures and City Sonic, a major figure in the development of sound and digital arts in Belgium, who passed away in 2025. The sound works of Isa*Belle Vrammout and Stéphane Kozik and the visual world of Natalia de Mello gradually coalesce around this recorded presence.

Beginning as a tribute, Transe-Formations gradually unfolds into a dense, immersive world where the hurdy-gurdy’s rough, organic sounds meet the singing bowls’ vibrations—by turns insistent and suspended—alongside electroacoustic material and electronic textures.

This transformation echoes an approach close to Philippe Franck's: bringing practices, artists and sonic material together to open up new spaces for listening. Created and manipulated in real time, the image extends this dialogue between memory, sound and perception.

Stéphane Kozik (Be)

An artist, sound artist and musician, Stéphane Kozik has spent more than twenty years developing a multidisciplinary practice combining audiovisual performance, sound installation, video and music. Sensitive, sensory and sometimes tinged with humour, his work places sound at the heart of settings that create narratives, atmospheres and fictions.

Drawing in particular on the role of sound in cinema, he readily reverses its hierarchy to imagine a true "cinema for the ears", in which images and narrative serve the act of listening. To this end, he designs his own sound and musical devices, exploring relationships between matter, vibration, image and sound. Each creation becomes an opportunity to experiment with new forms of composition and offer an altered perspective on reality.

Isa*Belle (Fr/Be)

A French multidisciplinary artist based in Belgium, Isa*Belle Vrammout has spent more than thirty years developing a practice at the intersection of sound work, the body and sensory exploration, using singing bowls, gongs, bells and vibrating objects.

Long associated with Transcultures, she began collaborating with Philippe Franck / Paradise Now in 2004 on Massages Sonores and numerous works presented at City Sonic and internationally. Today, she continues her research through transdisciplinary performances and projects centred on listening, vibration and perception.

Natalia de Mello (Pt/Be)

A Belgian-Portuguese multimedia visual artist, Natalia de Mello lives and works in Brussels. A graduate in drawing and graphic stimulation from ENSAV La Cambre, since the early 2000s she has developed a multidisciplinary practice bringing together installation, video, photography, performance and digital technologies. Her work is structured around two recurring themes: the relationship to space and the relationship to others.

Her collaborative approach moves beyond the boundaries of visual art into the performing arts, creating opportunities for experimentation and hybridisation. Through spatial audiovisual arrangements, she examines relationships between art and science, humans and machines, as well as notions of domesticity and domestication. Several of her works have entered the collections of MACS – Musée des Arts Contemporains du Grand-Hornu and the Musée royal de Mariemont.

Scratch my back

Raymond Delepierre

Raymond Delepierre performing a sound piece.

SCRATCH MY BACK is a project by Raymond Delepierre centred on a vinyl object whose material is gradually transformed through listening. Placed in a sleeve with abrasive surfaces, the record becomes scratched as it is handled: these alterations create new sonic traces, making wear, gesture and accident integral parts of the work.

The performance developed from the project extends this principle into a live setting. Handling the medium, friction, crackling and electronic processing become sonic material in their own right, in a territory somewhere between ASMR and noise. SCRATCH MY BACK thus shifts the recorded object into a performative form in which sound is made, deteriorates and changes in real time.

Biographies
Raymond Delepierre (Be)

Raymond Delepierre is a sound and visual artist, sound engineer, researcher and lecturer at ENSAV La Cambre in Brussels. For many years, he has developed a practice at the intersection of sound work, installation, performance and electroacoustic experimentation.

His work pays particular attention to acoustic phenomena, vibrations, frequencies and sounds produced by the objects and environments around us. Captured, amplified, repurposed or transformed, these materials become the starting point for arrangements that question both the conditions in which sound is produced and those in which it is heard.

Through often minimal forms and a deliberately experimental approach, Raymond Delepierre explores relationships between matter, gesture, technology and perception. His installations and performances invite us to turn our attention towards sounds that are usually imperceptible, overlooked or regarded as noise, and to consider them as visual and musical material in their own right.

Roxane Rajic’s installation La marée sans étoile.

La marée sans étoile

Roxane Rajic

La marée sans étoile is a sound and kinetic installation by Roxane Rajic, whose practice spans sculpture, installation, performance, sound and the technological exploration of ceramics. Combining ceramics, movement and sound, Roxane Rajic draws inspiration from the underground world. Water, breath and gesture activate ceramic sculpture-machines, bringing forth a sensitive landscape traversed by invisible dynamics, flows, friction and echoes. In this work, the interaction is not a simple technical trigger: it engages the body, attention and a more conscious relationship to the gestures that connect us individually and collectively.

Biographies
Roxane Rajic

Recipient of the 2025 Young Ceramic Creation Residency Prize of the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles, Roxane Rajic lives and works in Brussels. Born in 1993, they graduated from ENSAV La Cambre, where they studied ceramics from 2019 to 2024. Their practice spans ceramics, sculpture, installation, sound and performance, with particular attention to gestures of interaction and the forms of relationship they produce. Their path already reflects a strong interest in the resonant, activated and experimental dimensions of ceramics, which we find today at the heart of La marée sans étoile.

Their work has been shown in various exhibition contexts in Belgium and abroad and forms part of a cross-disciplinary approach in which ceramics engage with other modes of presence, perception and activation. With La marée sans étoile, Roxane Rajic affirms a singular approach, where sculpture becomes a device, where matter becomes a resonator, and where the gesture activates a landscape that is at once physical, sonic and imaginary.

Quattrophage

Matthieu Safatly, Pierre Dellacherie, Olivier Hüe, Nicolas Lelièvre

“A genuine surprise”, according to The Wire; “a sound-visualisation phenomenon”, according to Improjazz. Since the release of Koïnobios on the Sordide Sentimental label in 1996, Quattrophage has followed a rare and almost secret path, punctuated by concerts alongside Lydia Lunch, Faust and Black Sifichi.

Their music, a true "cinema for the ear", creates hypnotic soundscapes somewhere between an abandoned industrial wasteland and an imaginary ritual ceremony. An immersive experience combining tension, sonic material and evocative power.

Matthieu Safatly (Be)

Matthieu Safatly is a cellist, singer and sound designer. His work combines cello, voice, looper and cassette in intimate, poetic and hypnotic forms. His practice unfolds through a constant dialogue between sound experimentation, improvisation, stage poetry and transdisciplinary creation.

In addition to the Quattrophage project, within which he began to compose, he simultaneously developed a practice that embraces theatre, poetry, photography, silent cinema and multimedia installations. He has collaborated with many musicians, poets, companies and visual artists, including John Russell, Jean-Jacques Duerinckx, Present, Sandhya Sanjana, Frédéric Penelle and Yannick Jacquet.

Pierre Dellacherie (Fr)

A French cellist and musician, Pierre Dellacherie has been a member of Quattrophage since the group began. His practice occupies a territory where contemporary music, improvisation and sound experimentation meet, with an approach to the cello that gives as much weight to material, timbre and extended techniques as to its traditional instrumental role.

Alongside Quattrophage, he pursues various projects and collaborations, particularly in composition and cello. In 2026, he and Nicolas Boulenger released the project Rhapsodies, extending a musical practice that moves between composition and sound research.

Olivier Hüe (Fr)

A French guitarist and multi-instrumentalist, Olivier Hüe develops a particularly open practice informed equally by blues, experimental music and non-European musical traditions. Within Quattrophage, he explores electric guitar, electronic effects and various forms of repurposed or invented instrument-making.

He also plays the oud, Turkish tambûr, clarinet and shakuhachi, and trained in Ottoman classical music with Kudsi Erguner and Haroun Teboul. His career has led him to work in theatre, dance and the performing arts, while pursuing personal exploration of the connections between instruments, musical cultures and sound experimentation.

Nicolas Lelièvre (Fr)

A French drummer, percussionist, composer and improviser, Nicolas Lelièvre develops a practice in which percussion meets repurposed objects, electronic instruments and handcrafted instruments. Trained in classical percussion and jazz, he also studied Iranian percussion with Madjid Khaladj and furthered his jazz-drumming studies with Georges Paczynski.

Curious about all forms of sound production, he works in jazz and experimental music as well as for theatre, live film accompaniment or transdisciplinary projects. Artistic director of the Compagnie des Amis de FantômUs and member of Quattrophage, he also develops a personal project under the name Drøm mixing field recording, avant-pop and imaginary folklores.

Thanas Kas during his residency in the Moroccan Sahara.

New work

Sahara

Thanas Kas

Developed during a sound and visual arts residency in M’Hamid El Ghizlane, on the edge of the Moroccan Sahara, Sahara explores the desert as a territory for listening. Thanas Kas made field recordings, recorded local musicians and collected images, seeking not silence but the faint sounds that pass through it: wind, sand, human presence and the pulse of the body. The project creates a soundscape poised between documentary recording and a sensory perception of an environment where, in the artist’s words, "silence does not exist".

Thanas Kas (Be)

Thanas Kas is a Belgian multi-instrumentalist and sound artist of German and Albanian origins. After studying at the Antwerp Jazz Studio and Jazz Bxl, he continued his musical research through travels to Argentina, India, Mexico and West Africa, where he trained in traditional music in Bamako and Ouagadougou. A trained drummer, he gradually broadened his practice to include guitar, percussion, electronic processing and field recording.

Founder of the Brussels label Matilemstudio, he also develops Grand Than, his solo project, which combines poetry, song, soundscapes and influences gleaned from his travels. His research into sound, landscape and immersion has notably been accompanied by Transcultures and the Transonic label during several artistic residencies in Morocco.

Pastoral - Suspended night

Christophe Bailleau O’Farrell - Philippe Franck
Solo performance by Christophe Bailleau O’Farrell

Pastoral was the Franco-Belgian duo formed in 2010 by Christophe Bailleau O’Farrell and Philippe Franck. Bringing their respective worlds together, they composed music spanning ambient, electro post-folk and post-rock, in which celestial and more earthbound sonic material meets Impressionist melodies. The duo presented its work at various festivals, exhibitions and events in Belgium and internationally.

Suspended Night is the last project undertaken together before the death of Philippe Franck in 2025. Left unfinished, the album was revisited and completed in 2026 by Christophe Bailleau, from materials created by the duo, in collaboration with the labels Transonic (Belgium) and Mahorka (Bulgaria). It is therefore the final chapter of Pastoral, extending this universe suspended between electronics, sound poetry, cinematic reverie and experimentation.

A limb

Didié Nietzsche

A Limb is Didié Nietzsche’s electronic solo project. Conceived as a hybrid musical organism in perpetual mutation, it mixes ambient, drone, improvisation, electronic rhythms, sound experiments and influences ranging from krautrock to jazz, funk or dub. His performances, largely open to improvisation, develop both in physical spaces and in the virtual worlds of Second Life.

Life is a lab

Katia Vonna Beltran

A live-cinema audiovisual performance, Life is a Lab combines poetic DIY, critical insight and low-tech technologies. On a stage transformed into a visual laboratory, repurposed objects, recycled materials, archives and images captured in real time come to life under the gaze of cameras and are immediately projected, composing a moving narrative on the border of performance, cinema and installation.

Through this deliberately handmade setup, the project addresses questions linked to ecology, nomadism, ecofeminism, activism and the reclaiming of technology. By favouring gesture, repurposing and making over technical sophistication, the performance invites us to slow down the flow of images, to shift our gaze to reality and to imagine other ways of inhabiting the world.

Improvisation(s)

Jean-Jacques Duerinckx & Jean-Marc Foussat

Bringing together two leading figures in free improvisation, the performance sets Jean-Jacques Duerinckx’s saxophones against Jean-Marc Foussat’s electroacoustic world. Sopranino and baritone enter into dialogue with analogue synthesiser, voice, objects and electronic material in music created in the moment. Interplays of timbre, breath, saturation and abstract texture shape a shifting sonic space in which each performer acts on the other’s sound as much as on his own. Their rapport has developed through several concerts and recordings, including “L’Île des trésors”, recorded in Brussels in 2023.

Homo-Luciola vertical dance performance.

Work-in-progress residency showing

Homo-Luciola

Fred Chemama / 眯腊 (mira), Judith Léonardon, Sara Molon, Esteban Vin, Christian Leroy, Stéphane Kozik, Yacine Sebti

Homo-Luciola is a work bringing together vertical dance, interactive audiovisual art and sound work. Emerging from the encounter between the Fōz Machine, an interactive audiovisual device by the artist 眯腊 (mira) and the company LaterrateraL, the project transforms facades and architecture into living surfaces. Suspended in space, the bodies generate luminous traces in real time between photographic light-painting and video mapping.

Constructed as a dystopian tale, Homo-Luciola freely traces our relationship to images, from the earliest cave markings to a future saturated with light and technology. Through the figure of a hybrid being, half-human, half-firefly, the performance plays with myths, flight and transformation to question our fascination with images, progress and this contemporary obsession with “always faster, higher, further”.

Biographies
Fred Chemama / 眯腊 (mira) (Fr/Be)

A French multimedia artist based in Belgium since the late 1990s, Fred Chemama, alias 眯腊 (mira), develops a practice spanning photography, video, performance and interactive technologies. His work focuses on traces of the body, the memory of places and relationships between gesture, light and image.

He favours collaborative, site-specific systems in which technology becomes a tool for perception and the poetic transformation of space. He designed the Fōz Machine, an interactive video installation that captures movements of light and reproduces them on architecture in real time, transforming gestures and movement into ephemeral visual traces.

Judith Léonardon (Fr/Be)

A French musician, dancer, actor and circus artist based in Brussels, Judith Léonardon develops a practice bringing aerial arts, movement and music into dialogue. Trained in France, Great Britain and Belgium, she discovered vertical dance in 2016 and gradually incorporated it into her work as a performer.

A multi-instrumentalist, her work also spans classical music, jazz and world music. She joined LaterrateraL in 2022, where she combines her musical and aerial practices in creations designed for public space and architecture.

Sara Molon (It/Be)

An Italian aerial artist and dancer based in Belgium, Sara Molon develops a practice between acrobatics, contemporary dance, movement theatre and in situ creation. Trained in particular in vertical rope and aerial disciplines, she collaborated with several companies in Italy before continuing her artistic path in Belgium.

Co-founder of LaterrateraL and the company OUI! Mais…, she closely combines creation, teaching and research into suspended movement. Her work focuses particularly on relationships between body, space, architecture and staging.

Esteban Vin (Be)

A circus artist, performer and technician, Esteban Vin has worked for many years with aerial disciplines, vertical dance and work at height. Trapeze, aerial silks, rope and suspension systems are the principal tools of a practice in which artistic creation and technical expertise are closely linked.

Also trained in rigging, anchoring and safety at height, he works as a performer, trainer and builder of stage systems. Founder of CirK en StoK and co-founder of LaterrateraL, he participates in the design of performances where architecture becomes choreographic space.

Christian Leroy (Be)

A Belgian composer, pianist and live film accompanist, Christian Leroy has been developing a practice for over forty years that spans contemporary music, jazz, improvisation and music for moving image. He has devoted himself particularly to silent cinema, accompanying and composing for nearly two hundred films, while developing a language where acoustic instruments and electronics meet.

Founder at the end of the 1970s of the Ensemble Musique Vivante, which became Métarythmes de l'Air, he collaborated with numerous musicians including Steve Lacy, Fred Van Hove, Barre Phillips, Louis Sclavis and Marilyn Crispell. He is also the author of numerous music for cinema, animation and documentaries.

Roxane Métayer

“From the end of winter to the end of spring, life in the Sonian Forest saw its cycle unfold. Several times a week, for several months, this meant going there, equipped with a recorder and a camera, to follow this cycle closely and find coots, chipmunks and leaf beetles. From the formation of pairs of birds to the construction of nests, including the birth of chicks and the blooming of flowers, the violin is the common thread of this entire story. A performance, therefore, made up, among other things, of images of the forest, violin melodies and birdsong.”

Roxane Métayer is a French musician and visual artist based in Brussels. Trained in visual arts at the École de Recherche Graphique, she developed a practice where music, drawing, sculpture, video and observation of the living world meet. Sound sound work notably combines violin, voice, wind instruments, percussion and recordings made in nature.

Her music maintains a close dialogue with the fauna and flora, whose sound manifestations she collects and transforms. Through improvisation, field recording and a very personal violin practice, she constructs landscapes in which instrumental and environmental sounds tend to merge. Her albums have been released by KRAAK, Morc, Primordial Void, Wabi-Sabi Tapes, Marionnette Label and Matière Mémoire, among others. In 2025 and 2026, several new releases continued this research around natural environments and their transformations.

Text by Werner Moron

“These days, bringing people together for a cultural event has become both precious and complex. We are caught between an ever-growing number of proposals and the limited resources available to meet the ambitions involved.

To give myself the best possible chance, as part of my work with Natagora at the Botanical Garden, I decided this should be entrusted to intelligent, talented women with a sense of humour.

I hope the process will unfold in two stages: first, an evening during which each of them will offer us a glimpse of her immense talent; then, if they have the desire and determination, a conversation that might give shape to a form of institution in which women can think together about how best to establish such an institution, inviting other women capable of bringing together an audience committed to preserving what remains of biodiversity.”

For contemporary art, we need a contemporary audience.

A Belgian poet and performer, Catherine Barsics develops writing that explores points of friction between poetry and other art forms. Her first book, Disparue (2019), takes the form of a poetic investigation based on a real event, while Plages (2025) plays with the narration and layout of the poem to the point of evoking the pages of a comic strip.

On stage, she works with an embodied language shaped by breath, voice and movement. Her performances are regularly created in dialogue with music, dance and visual art, as part of a transdisciplinary practice in which writing transforms through contact with space, bodies and the moment.

Aurélie William Levaux (Be)

A Belgian author, visual artist and illustrator, Aurélie William Levaux creates work spanning illustration, comics, writing and contemporary art. Drawing, painting, embroidery, texts and autobiographical narratives form a highly personal, often caustic world in which everyday life becomes the terrain for a critical observation of our time.

Alongside her publications with Atrabile, Cambourakis and Le Monte-en-l’air, she and multimedia artist Baptiste Brunello develop performance work combining text, music, video and improvisation. Together they create deliberately fragile and unpredictable forms in which song, DIY sound, humour and deliberately embraced failure become ways of dissecting the absurdities of the contemporary world.

Vinciane Despret (Be)

A Belgian philosopher and psychologist, Vinciane Despret has worked in the philosophy department of the Université de Liège since 1991 and also teaches at the Université libre de Bruxelles. Her research focuses in particular on scientists’ relationships with animals and the forms of knowledge that emerge from them. She was scientific curator of the exhibition Bêtes et Hommes, presented at the Grande Halle de la Villette in Paris in 2007-2008.

Her work has also led her to explore the ethnopsychology of emotions, then the relationships the living maintain with their dead and the ways in which the human sciences attempt to understand these experiences. Through her books and research, she more broadly questions how we construct knowledge and enter into relationships with others, both human and non-human.

Baptiste Brunello (Fr/Be)

Moving between poetry, visual art, sound research, video and performance, Baptiste Brunello treads a line as sensitive as it is fragile, between unease and mastery. Although he readily works through humour, his work remains imbued with profound gravity.

Through serial visual works, videos, instrumental compositions and reflections spoken or sung, he constructs a space of expression shaped by the repurposing of processes, chance, approximation and the limits of accuracy or coherence. For around ten years, his project has developed as a series of tableaux vivants, transforming, recycling and feeding itself while constantly incorporating new material and ideas into a broader artistic enquiry.

Werner Moron (Be)

Visual artist, performer, author and inventor of collective situations, Werner Moron has developed a deliberately undisciplined practice since the 1980s, spanning visual arts, performance, writing and intervention in public space. Born in Berchem in 1962 and based in Liège, he notably founded the art space “Les Brasseurs” and the collective “Paracommand’arts”. His work prioritises action, encounter and experimentation, with constant attention to the social and political dimensions of creation.

For several years, he has extended this approach to the relationships between art, environment and biodiversity. Within Natagora, where he is responsible for the "Art, Nature and Innovation" department and oversees its artistic dimension, he develops projects bringing together artists, scientists, citizens and people working in the field. Defining himself in particular as a "sculptor of biotopes", he founded the Musée de l'Éphémère in Herstal, a landscaped park designed on a former industrial wasteland as a space for experimentation between artistic creation and urban ecology.

La péniche l'Armande

Céline Denain, Louis Freres and Florence Peyrard for Hybridation.

Hybridation

Céline Denain, Louis Freres, Florence Peyrard, Armand Lesecq

A project for new music and site-specific performance, designed for spaces not dedicated to art, Hybridation brings together music, dance, contortion, speech and sound. Alternating between improvisation and "poetic islands", the performance blurs the boundaries between disciplines, between artists and audience, and between created and environmental sounds. The work invites us to shift how we listen and look through an open form in which body, space and sound transform one another.

Biographies
Céline Denain (Fr)

A performer, author and teacher who graduated from ENSAPC, Céline Denain develops work spanning improvised dance, performance, choreographic writing and oral poetry. For many years, she has rooted her creations in particular places and in contact with their inhabitants, while conducting outreach activities with a wide range of audiences. Her practice gives particular importance to questions of inclusion, perception and relationships between body, speech and environment.

Florence Peyrard (Fr)

A contortionist-dancer, singer and actor, Florence Peyrard develops a practice in which the body becomes a space for narrative and experimentation. She has worked with Dominique Boivin, Yoann Bourgeois, Mourad Merzouki, Valérie Lesort and Christian Hecq, as well as Raphaël Navarro. Informed by her university studies in gender and the arts, she also conducts practice-based research into contortion from a feminist perspective while developing her own choreographic and film projects.

Armand Lesecq (Fr)

A French interdisciplinary artist and composer, Armand Lesecq develops a practice spanning sound and visual art, experimental music, art-science and extended cinema. His research investigates perception, attention and mental images through sound and immersive experiences playing with perceptual ambiguity. Electronic musician and electroacoustic composer, he works in particular with field recording, feedback, digital synthesis and modular synthesisers. Specialised in spatialisation of sound, he also designs systems and tools that make space a true parameter of composition and performance.

Solar Cycle

Alyssa Havé

Interactive sound installation, Solar Cycle explores the relationships between light, sound and movement using electronic circuits inspired by the research of artist Ralf Schreiber. Light acts directly on the sound behaviour of the device, creating an evolving composition where physical and electronic phenomena respond to each other. The piece thus invites us to listen sensitively to the variations produced by a deliberately simple and open system.

Unsurrounded

Lázara Rosell Albear

An audiovisual performance in constant evolution, Unsurrounded brings together drums, electronics, field recordings, pocket trumpet, voice, images and movement in an open form where the different media intersect and transform each other. Each presentation reactivates and recombines materials from previous performances, making the work a continuous process, nourished by sampling, collage, improvisation and the reuse of its own archives.

Between AfroCubanfuturism, sound experimentation and expanded cinema, the project blurs the boundaries between scene, image, body and space, leaving ample room for accident, displacement and transformation.

Lázara Rosell Albear (Cu/Be)

A Belgian-Cuban multidisciplinary artist born in Havana, Lázara Rosell Albear develops a practice spanning performance, cinema, sound, installation and drawing. A graduate in cinema at KASK in Ghent, she also worked in the field of dance, notably with Ballets C de la B, before developing her own projects within MahaWorks, a structure she co-founded in 2001.

Her practice combines experimental drums and percussion, electronics, voice, pocket trumpet, images and field recordings. Shaped by questions of displacement, identity, transformation and memory, her work favours hybrid, immersive forms spanning audiovisual composition, improvisation and performance.

Maria Teriaeva

Using the Buchla modular synthesiser, Maria Teriaeva develops electronic music in which analogue textures, melodic structures and acoustic timbres meet. Drawing on approaches to composition inherited from both experimentation and pop, her performance constructs a sonic world that is at once precise, organic and shifting, in which modular synthesis becomes a true compositional instrument.

Maria Teriaeva (Ru/Fr)

A synthesist, composer and musician born in Siberia and based in France, Maria Teriaeva places the Buchla synthesiser at the centre of a practice combining electronics, acoustic instruments and voice. After first playing guitar in several independent bands, she developed her solo work with Focus (2017), followed by Conservatory of Flowers (2020), in which she deepened her exploration of Buchla systems.

Her third album, Sayan - Savoie (2025), combines synthesiser, guitar, electric organ and vocoder in a work marked by exile and displacement between the mountains of her Siberian childhood and the French Alps. A member of the Red Bull Music Academy in 2015, she was also a winner of the PAUSE program of the Collège de France and an artist in residence at ESAAA in Annecy.

Noïse Story (Histoire de bruits).

Noïse Story(Histoire de bruits)

Charlie Aubry, Xavière Fertin, Louis Freres, Armand Lesecq

A participatory performance-concert for very young audiences, Noïse Story repurposes an electric bass, clarinets, toys and everyday objects to create lively and unusual sonic material. Prepared instruments, extended techniques and manipulated objects initially form a series of original pieces that invite audiences to listen differently to the noises around them.

In the second part, the children are invited to enter the installation and produce sounds themselves. Amplified, transformed and spatialised in quadraphonic sound, these become the material for a collective improvisation with the musicians. Part concert, part play and part immersive installation, the project turns listening, experimentation and letting go into a shared experience.

Workshop “Sferos”

Kotryna Žilinskaitė, Arnaud Schockmel

Sferos offers an exploration of movement, voice and presence based on a poetic framework inspired by the five elements. For three hours, participants experience different bodily and vocal qualities, as well as their relationship to space, gravity and others. Some exercises use hanging fabrics to encourage release, shift points of support and experience the body as a living structure in transformation.

Sferos

Kotryna Žilinskaitė, Arnaud Schockmel

At the crossroads of performance, embodied research and vocal exploration, Sferos considers the body as a living space, in constant transformation. Movement, voice, breath, space and perception are intertwined in an approach informed by theatre, dance, Tai Chi and different somatic practices.

Built around the five elements (earth, water, fire, air and ether), the project explores different qualities of presence, movement and relationship to sound. More than a fixed method, Sferos develops as an open process where improvisation makes it possible to experience the links between inner sensations, environment and expression.

Kotryna Žilinskaitė (Lt)

A Lithuanian interdisciplinary artist, Kotryna Žilinskaitė works at the intersection of theatre, contemporary dance, video and sound. Trained in theatre at the Académie lituanienne de musique et de théâtre, she gradually shifted her practice towards the relationships between body, voice, movement and space.

With a master’s degree in music therapy from Université de Vilnius, she now combines artistic research with somatic and therapeutic approaches. Her projects take the form of performances, dance films, sound compositions, improvisations and workshops. She also develops international projects through the Užiateka cultural platform and regularly collaborates with Transcultures, particularly through residencies and exploration of body and sound practices.

Quelques piétons / Eric Therer

Under the name “Quelques piétons”, Eric Therer has developed a sound-poetry performance practice over several years, in which text, voice and listening become materials in their own right. Drawing on fragments of everyday life, observed situations or deliberately rudimentary stories, he composes oral forms in which absurdity, humour and acute attention to language mingle with sound experimentation.

Eric Therer will present a finely crafted DJ set for the evening, freely navigating between adventurous, experimental music and other sound curiosities.

Eric Therer (Be)

A Liège-based author, performer, publisher and music columnist, Eric Therer has been developing work for several decades spanning poetry, performance and sound experimentation. His texts draw equally on observations of everyday life, the Dadaist legacy and sound-poetry practices.

He has undertaken numerous readings, performances and collaborations with musicians and sound artists. His performances favour simple arrangements, sometimes reduced to the voice alone, and play with proximity to the audience, accident and improvisation. In a post-Dadaist spirit, “Quelques piétons” transforms ordinary words and everyday situations into poetic, critical and sonic material. He also pursues publishing work with Eastern Belgium at Night and has maintained close ties with Transcultures and City Sonic.
