Walkmanpainting

Walkmanpainting is a drawing installation for a microphone stand, a walkman, a crocodile clip, white paper and felts. The clamp is fixed onto the end of a reel of the walkman which is itself hooked to the foot of the microphone. At the other end, a felt tip visually draws the rotating movements in a framework that is nonetheless randomly touching the paper, very slightly, on the floor.

Ventorgano

The Ventorgano is an electroacoustic synthesizer composed of guitar strings, resonating body and ventilating fans that allow modifications for the user to control micro-rhythmic elements and subtle changes within the harmonic spectrum. The composer, performer and Viennese sound artist Andreas Trobollowitsch Diverts the tools or instruments he uses in his installations and during sonic performances. In his work, tools rise to the rank of instruments and their fabrication becomes an artistic jest, as does their use. Hybridizing the codes of the music industry to those of the artisanal workbench, the artist proposes sculptures that are capable of randomly emitting sounds or drawings. He uses existing elements, such as portable players or turntables, and he changes their primary uses. He also designs instruments from scratch, such as the Ventorgano.

La grande soirée d’ouverture de cette 15ème édition du festival, pour la première fois dans la ville de Charleroi.

Andreas Trobollowitsch

The artist turns out makeshift tools or instruments that he uses in his installations and during sonic performances. In his work, tools rise to the rank of instruments and their making becomes an artistic gesture, as well as their use. The work of Andreas Trobollowitsch explores the narrow interval and vast ambiguity that resides between the notions of tool, instrument and interpreter. The artist first positions himself as a builder, a craftsman of his own installations. Hybridizing the codes of the music industry to those of the artisanal workbench, the artist tinkers with sculptures that are capable of emitting random sounds or drawings. To achieve his goals, Andreas Trobollowitsch is constituting a tool-ensemble. He diverts primary uses from existing elements, such as portable players or turntables, or designs his instruments from scratch, such as the Ventorgano.
