Le Cinéaste et l'Inverse (2013)
This project was conceived from a common desire amongst artist, to give some kind of form to the complex feeling arising from absence (missing someone). To miss someone is a suffering due to his/her absence…which also makes this person shine. That this person’s absence, is a fact and a state, is a way of being and reacting to love experienced in distress. In a poem about confession and love, this sense of absence gains passage
here, by the declaration of the feeling that ‘it is love strangled by the expectation of the other’. It is also in the image that regards the other person in his/her daily way of being, and then, in her/his own solitude. Jonas Luyckx (Liège), was to film what would later become the image of this absence of the loved one, and for the poet, Annie Lafleur (Montreal), to write about this shared fate, inspired by a 12th century poem by Raimbaut d’Orange. The themes of disintegration and erasure are exposed in the image, as much as metonymy and the understatements in the text. The image and the word look for each other like two lovers in the darkness, towards some balance making them forget this state of precariousness.
