Schlingencharleroiblängen
Embarking on this concert of Charlemagne Palestine invited by City Sonic, he takes possession of the large organ of the Basilica Saint-Christophe on September 8th, 2017. In the program, is the environmental composition, “maximalist”, to be broadcasted, in the spirit of the series Schlingen-Blängen, which he has carried out in several churches in the world for several decades. The ‘enfant terrible’ of the generation of New York minimalists repeatedly reinvents another sonic space-time…at the same time spellbinding as it is celestial and mysterious. He transforms the organ (which he regards as the most advanced of sonic instrument), and the body of the church into a gigantic chamber of resonance where hundreds of tons of harmonics meet, which vary acoustically, depending on the position of the visitor.

Charlemagne Palestine
Describing himself as “maximalist”,Charlemagne Palestine is one of the pioneers of experimental music. He creates sound-videos, sculptures, installations… always under the attentive eye of his stuffed animals which symbolize childhood but also divinity, spirituality and fetishism. Each performance of Charlemagne Palestine is a “sacred bordello”, always surprising, a shamanic and spellbinding single experiment.
