Matthieu Safatly

Matthieu Safatly is a soloist, whose second album is to be released at the end of 2017. Performing intimate songs or audiovisual creations that are captivating: his project, ‘Polyphony 4 Solos’, presents him playing the cello and singing, surrounded by television sets broadcasting pre-recorded films of him playing and singing. A quadraphonic acoustic solo! A member of Quattrophage, he is undergoing a 25-year-old perpetual formation and research. He released his first album on the mythical label Sordide Sentimental in 1996, and was also an artist in Present, a band from the famous Belgian Combo Univers Zero. In 2016, he began a duet with Björn Jauss in modular synthesizer. They tangle their sounds and sensitivities, and offer electric velvet, then, a hypnotic lullaby, to métal boisé. He is part of You Got No Jams, with Jean-Jacques Duerinckx which is a cheerful free-rock with aquatic accents. Inventive and always curious, he holds a surprising electro contempop project under the pseudo name, Herr Gramophone, and composes for his twin brother Tom Whist, an electro loon crooner performing across french stages and in polyglot bars. He participates in the organization of OMFI events (One Moment Free Improv ‘) and City Sonic.
