Apnée Zoo Beat

Transcultures / City Sonic invited Antoine Boute (writer, performer) with his accomplices. They are Chloé Schuiten (designer, writer and ‘designer of waste’), Clément Thiry (visual artist and interdisciplinary creator), Jeanne Pruvot Simonneaux (performer and sculptor) and students of the School of Graphic Research (ERG, Brussels) where he teaches and transforms the space of la Maisons des Jeunes Chez Zelle.

Apnée Zoo Beat is a growing installation activated during an immersive performance of “civilizational Apnea” clotured by a Biohardcore Banquet (29.11 > see City Sonic #16 events @LLN) in the city of Louvain-la-Neuve to feel the pulse of his various forms of life and then add a layer, a pulsation, accumulate attempts to approach, as many beats, “punches” or bites as possible, to then hang them like cloves in Chez Zelle.

Additionally, a video lounge with selected works related to the artists: Chloé Schuiten (Be), Clément Thiry (Fr), Martine Doyen (Be), June Peduzzi (Fr/It) (Fr/It).

Zero waste banquet + organic hardcore performance

To end, in a festive and participative way, their evolving creation(s) residency, conducted on the occasion of City Sonic # 16, at Maison des jeunes Chez Zelle, Antoine Boute and his accomplices offer a big tasty and long banquet. Made 100% of recuperation food, it will be interspersed with “bio hardcore” performance, because the bio-hardcore revolution that uses constraint as a motor of reactivity is not only by sleeping, glancing, or working, but also by eating.

Banquier (muscle, vie, hypnose)

This two-headed project was born from the meeting between Antoine Boute – writer and performer – and Vincent Matyn – director and sound artist. Combining sound poetry, political manifesto and concrete music, this philosophical-burlesque tale questions our relationship to the media, politics and engagement. The text addresses the collusion between political power, economic power and media power. The narrative unfolds in an original sound universe, made from the voice of Antoine Boute, using the modes of transformations and treatments inherited from concrete music, noise, dub and hip hop. There are five chapters, oscillating between satire and philosophy, comedy and politics; the text is at times funny, jubilant but also serious in its societal implications. The sound composition follows these movements.

Production: Radio panik, with the support of the FACR. Voice and text: Antoine Boute.
Sound composition and editing: Vincent Matyn.

Sonopoetics terminal

This work will be broadcast in a terminal. Sonopoetics is the division of City Sonic and its alter label Transonic dedicated to the crossings between sound poems / living literatures and sound art/experimental music. This selection of recent works of artists with multiple talents is presented in the form of a terminal, listening to the headphones on a good chair.

Télé Banque Hypnose (video)

On a text by Antoine Boute, a sound creation by Vincent Matyn and images by June Peduzzi. A collective work that was constituted by step.

A text, ‘Operation Biohardcore’ published by Les petits matins inspired a sound fiction (produced by Radio Panik). This one required a visual extension for an immersive cinema installation.

A tale, a play of shadows and lights, showing our relationship to the media, to technological seduction and implicitly to capitalism and finance. A philosophico-burlesque tale. Several forms intersect here: dramatic radio, storytelling and electro-acoustic composition. Five chapters that invite us to think about our relationship to money, communication, power.

Biographie

Writer, sound poet, essayist, event organizer, Antoine Boute works at overlapping poetry, philosophy and music, notably by writing books and performing. His practice is fundamentally based on language, its limits and its diversities. He explores the impacts between body, language and voice according to various media and means (paper, internet, stage) and likes to collaborate with other authors and artists (Ariane Bart, Lucille Calmel, Mylène Lauzon, Charles Pennequin …) as well as musicians (Jean DL, Mauro Pawlowski, Agnès Palier…).

He is the author of about fifteen books, including Operations Biohardcores (Paris, Les Petits Matins) and Apnée (Brussels, ONLIT), with Chloé Schuiten, Clément Thiry and Jeanne Pruvot Simonneaux. He also organizes events, such as the BRUL monthly evenings at the Ateliers Claus in Brussels and a performance festival in the Soignes Forest.
