Mars Abstraction S3 (2019) (creation)

This third video work of Mars Abstraction series defies the imagination in relation to a purely linear extension of human territories in space that is unlikely to happen as such. The visual material, taken from public sources, is reworked and recomposed to evoke the landscapes of Mars where, despite the date given by several probes, unknown mysteries and energies remain.

As we do not know much about what can be heard on Mars, this video is accompanied by a sound creation that is inspired by both the imaginary and existing data.

Production: European Pepinieres of Creation, Transcultures.

Mars Abstraction S5 (creation)

Mars Abstractions S5 continues the research started by Petermfriess for his variable-geometry project Mars Abstractions, imagining a sound universe on Mars. This time it’s in the form of a spatial-audio-visual installation, made from visual material, from public sources. These are reworked and recomposed. Sound objects find their place in the light beam of an immersive projection and appear as a shadow and audio source.

At once present and always mysterious, Mars is revealed as terra incognita and terra projectura spem. Mars Abstractions argues for reverse expansionism, where occupation and exploitation are not the key paradigms, but where mastery of difficulty and the unexpected will create an alternate version of humanity.

Production: Transcultures, Petermfriess.
Acknowledgments to Anni Hellman for the sound inspiration.
