Nuée (creation)

Nuée is an installation resulting from a set called Artéfact, which aims to reproduce natural phenomena in a completely artificial way, especially from plastics. The idea is to illustrate a finding regarding the place of plastic in nature: it is now an integral part of any natural environment. The artist reproduces sensations that one can experience, for example by watching the rain fall. If this remains an undeniably graceful and delicate phenomenon, it is less and less natural as it is more and more impregnated by microparticles of plastics.

Here, motors allow drops to be in motion, but a jerky movement, almost mechanical, evokes a certain artificiality, accentuated by the electronic sound in rhythm with the movement’s pace.

Ritournelle

This installation relates the notions of loop and sound repetition with the notions of rotation, cycle or gyration present in nature. It does so by illustrating it by way of an intriguing visual and artificial form, generating reflections and light patterns. This is in order to evoke nature… while keeping some distance to it. The visitor is invited here to immerse him/herself in the space, delimited by the balloons.
