Performance (creation)

A performance by Margarida Guia will be an intimate and singular encounter. Singer, performer and sound artist, she takes us between light and dark to a cabaret of curiosities full of poetry and imagination.

Biography

Margarida Guia is an interpreter, actress, singer, performer and sound designer alongside various artists (directors, choreographers, musicians, visual artists, directors). Her discovery of the world of improvised music led her to explore the word as a sound score, and her voice as an instrument. Since 2008, she has been a sound designer for theater, dance, radio, cinema and multimedia installations. In 2009, France Culture commissioned a Radio Creation Workshop revolving around the ‘traveling library’ and its sounds and poetic universe. In 2010, she composed for Céline Tertre’s Mystiques 13-21 (which received the Scam Young Talent Award in 2011). Since 2002, she has been reading, vocalizing, and singing poetry outside on stage with a traveling library. In 2012, she sets up a new traveling object, La Dinette, inviting the public to sit at her table equipped with headphones for a poetic audio crossing. For the past fifteen years, she has been conducting workshops related to the body and voice (theatre, reading, sound poetry) and taking part in seminars on reading aloud. In 2013, she conducted a voice orchestra in collaboration with composer and pianist Joao Paulo Esteves da Silva (Centro Mario Dionisio, Lisbon).
