Radios World
Radios World is a project to explore more than 2000 radio stations from around the world. The change of station is done by the displacement of the listener in the geographical space. Like the steering the frequency of a radio listening, the physical strolling determined by the use of the GPS causes, depending on the distances covered, the change of flow.
Production: Transcultures.
How to
A web application for Android smartphones and tablets, RadioWalk simply requires Internet access and GPS, preferably headphones and a pair of good shoes for a walk.
Click on the link citysonic.be/RadiosWorld (or scan the QR code) and follow the instructions on the screen. If no radio is launched, your web browser is probably incompatible with this artwork. This project is part of the Sonic Walks.
Biography
Artist-programmer and researcher in the field of arts and digital humanities, Franck Soudan has been developing for the past ten years a variety of digital works that combine cultural practices from the Web with the aesthetic and political issues of algorithms.
As a data collector, his projects often bring together geolocalised information for which he designs maps questioning our positioning in this globalized sphere of signs that the Internet means.
Between the network, the code and the territory, his approach begins with the ideology according to which, with the new technologies of the digital, we would have essentially to face computer issues while ignoring that these ones initially weave the fabric of our sensitive experiments and aspire to assert themselves as real political projects.
Franck Soudan is part of art2.network, a collective with variable geometry that he initiated in 2017 with the Belgian artist Jacques Urbanska.
