Sub Rosa
Sub Rosa is an independent Belgian record company with an internationalist and curatorial approach. It was created in the mid-1980s by Guy-Marc Hinant and Frédéric Walheer in the Brussels avant-garde effervescence. The first series of the label was that of Myths (4 volumes, with, among others, Mark Stewart, William S. Burroughs, Eyeless in Gaza, Gavin Bryars, Jon Hassel, Coil, Current 93…) which was revealed a landmark. In addition to monographic albums (electronic, experimental, Outsider art, unclassifiable) other series (Le coeur du monde, Unclassical, Utopian Diaries, Subsonic…) followed, always with great care of design and texts. In 2001, the label produced a vast collection of concrete, Noise and electronic music: An anthology of noise and electronic music (7 volumes).
